Within the past five years, car insurance rates have increased significantly in many car insurance markets. In states like California and New Mexico, monthly car insurance premiums have increased each year since 2009. In California, these rate increases have been the result of a high number of DUI related accidents. From 2009 to 2011, some insurance companies reported paying out over two million dollars in DUI related claims. This claims in turn caused auto insurance rates to go up higher. In New Mexico, some of the recent increases in auto insurance rates have been related to weather related accidents. While these rates did not go up as high as California, they still increased by twenty four percent. As a result of all these accident related increases, a large number of drivers in these states have started looking for some affordable car insurance quotes. By doing this, they are hoping to save at least five hundred to one thousand dollars a year.
